Roofing Contractors & Regular Roof Inspections

Periodic roofing inspections may be last item on your priority list, or may not even be in there at all. Unless there are visible signs of damage on the roofing system, most homeowners will avoid having their roofs inspected, thinking it's a waste of time and money. To the contrary, structural damage is not always conspicuous; hence, regular inspections and repairs are needed to ensure that the roof is in optimal condition.

A functional roofing system will protect your home, possessions, and loved ones from inclement weather. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) suggests having your roof inspected twice a year, preferably in the spring and fall. Roofs should also be inspected after severe weather disturbances, like hailstorms and hurricanes. Damaged roofing systems that have not reached the end of their service life should be repaired immediately to preserve their functionality.

Roof repairs are best left to professional roofing contractors who have been trained and certified to handle all types of issues. Do-it-yourself roof repairs are dangerous, and botched repair jobs can make the situation worse. During the ocular inspection, contractors will examine the roof for cracked, missing, or torn shingles. Inspections will also be made inside the attic to spot signs of leaking or water damage, and to pinpoint sagging beams. Periodic roofing inspections will keep your roof in tip-top shape for years to come.

  1. Water damage can not only affect the structural integrity of your home, but it can expose your family to toxic mold.
